June 3rd “Really, Not Really”

“One Nation Under God – Douglas Auld”

BLOG BURST
“I painted this painting at the same time I painted the painting I used for Memorial Day tribute. The title today is truly misleading. Our nation for the most part has forgotten how and what God has given us. We are a nation of tolerance and no one questions what that is really doing to the fiber and foundation of our great land. Once, children were disciplined, today we have states taking away the rights of parents to discipline their own children. Once, we would question divorce, now it’s a matter of how fast can one get out of vows and sacred assurances and promises for re-marriage. Once, we wouldn’t “tolerate’ our children living with someone, now after saying we’re upset, we go do it ourselves. Once, it was horrible to commit adultery, now we do what we want when we want, have no conscious, and justify it anyway we like. On and on it goes throwing God and His Word out the window and further worshiping the “god of self”. And this, this is from His people; forget those who are of the world.

The Bible says, “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. II Chronicles 7:14 His people are not of this Kingdom and they are to live in the world, but not be of the world. Most Christian’s don’t even realize they were called, wouldn’t humble themselves and aren’t sure why or even to whom they pray. What’s wrong with that picture?

Please wake up to the truth, God has chosen you to follow His instructions, His direction, have His security and to live and bring glory to Him. It’s not too late to repent and turn away, turn back, reconcile yourself and live for Him. Humble yourself, see Him as He truly is, and seek Him with all your heart; then pray for our nation becoming once again, “One Nation Under God”!”

POETIC PONTIFICATION
“Oh, child of the King where do you stand today
Have you thrown what you know as truth away
Did you choose the world over what is truly right
Have you chosen to live only using your own sight
What happens to the faith and promises you made
Has your stand and light you’ve shown started to fade
Are you dismissing what He wants for your selfish pride
Do you think He doesn’t see and you can actually hide
Seek first His face and pour yourself out to Him this day
Humble yourself before Him, be intimate and really pray
It’s not too late to do and be in the center of His will
Get before Almighty God, Sovereign Ruler and be still!”

“Painters wrestle with what they see, how they translate it and what the final execution is. For God’s people His Word is true and His ways are blameless. Seek Him, first!”

May 20th “ Underpainting”

“Underpainting”

“Underpainting is a term used when the first stages of a painting is done in a monochromatic way. In other words, it can look like a black and white photo. In actual painting the subject matter of the whole canvas is done most commonly in a combination of whites, and greens and burnt umber mixed together or used individually or separately with white. Mixing these together in differing amounts and painting them in a manner where the actual color combination used is the values of the painting. Set up in a scale they can range generally from five basic value colors to seven usually from lightest to darkest values. This method of painting creates totally unique results and sets up the painting for an application method called glazing. A series of glazes or thin transparent layers of paint are then applied to bring out the color of the painting. While the methodology takes skill and patience many traps from not dry layers completely, to muddy overlays, to rubbing out a previous layer if one is trying to correct a misapplication may cause significant frustration as well as failure.

Life is full of underpainting. What did you strive for when growing up? How were you influenced? What school or career did you really prepare for or did you even prepare for it at all? How were you influenced by those around you during your formative years? Why did you marry the person you married or why did you choose not to be married? How were you training to be married? What ethic background did you come from that influenced your understanding? Whose advice did you follow and why? What circumstance changed you? What choices did you make? How did you influence or how are you influencing your children? How do you influence others? What are you striving for? What security do you believe in? What have you forsaken to get where you are? What does it matter? What is your life worth? What beliefs have you forsaken? Do you believe in an afterlife?

Underpaintings in one’s life and the choices one makes can mean everything as The Bible says, “it is appointed once for man to die and then judgment”!

POETIC PONTIFICATION
"You stand up, you talk, and influence people every day
You are so worried about what they see and what they say
You really care about only those few who mean something to you
All your actions and deeds speak volumes about self importance too
So when you stand face to face and He asks you what will you say
He knows what’s really inside your heart and how you made your way!"

“Painter paint in a variety of styles, methods and mediums, but they are all chosen. What are you choosing for now and eternity? Have a great week!!”

May 6th “Filled With Doubt”

“Dancers In Blue – Edgar Degas”

BLOG BURST:
"Edgar Degas was born in Paris the son of a banker and art lover and friend to important collectors, he was set up in his first studio by eighteen. He studied at the School of Fine Arts after which he studied the masters of the Renaissance still keeping his passion and focus on painting. He lived a life of listening only to his own opinions. Filled with self doubt which affected him and his isolation for his entire life and losing his sight he turned to sculpture and his love of the opera.

So many are filled with doubt. So many have no hope. So many don’t know about the choices they have made and are making. Today we live in a world filled with me, myself and I. A throw away to our foundational beliefs and a mockery when we disapproved of our child’s actions and turn around and lead them by doing exactly what we’ve disapproved of. Throw away marriages, throw away relationships, throw away jobs and positions because discipline, order, behavior, decorum are no longer in vogue, only what our momentary feelings tell us to do.

Be careful for the God of the entire universe carefully watches over all and even His own will not mock him.

Our only hope is to live for Him in obedience to His commands, even when it doesn’t “feel good!"

POETIC PONTIFICATION:
“Where is the stand on foundational beliefs we once took
It's like we’ve been pulled from stage and don’t even see the hook
Why do you think you’ve got it right and the fairy tale is in view
When you’ve totally forgotten to look closely all around you
You may not see it today or maybe you’ll hear or see a crack
But you won’t reach the colors the world said when it’s truly black!”

“Every artist has fears and has doubts. We also must come to the point where our hope is in the Lord. Have a great week!”

Apr.29th “We Know Not The Time”

“The Pink Dress – Fredric Bazille”

BLOG BURST:
"Born the son of a rich landowner and wine grower, Fredric Bazille, at his parents urging, set off to Paris to study medicine. He found himself studying painting in the same workshops as Renior, Sisley, and Monet. He pursued his studies with Monet experimenting with open air painting. Upon his return to Paris he found that he had failed his medical exams. He then went about getting permission from his parents to devote himself totally to art.

Because of his position and parents underwriting, Bazille shared his living accommodations and studio workshop with Monet making it possible for Monet to exist and keep working. His connections and influences seemed to allow his works acceptance by the governing art authorities, The Official Salon. He continued his pursuit of the accepted norm as well as his new love of impressionism. His clear thinking and understanding allowed him to move in both circles.

His burgeoning career came to a dramatic halt when he was killed in the line of duty during the war of 1870 at the age of 29. He is probably most known for the love of his colleagues and his generosity in keeping them alive during the early tumultuous times of these pioneers, a band of starving artists who ultimately birthed the Impressionist movement which has so impacted the art world.

One never knows the day God has set for one’s spirit to depart this present world. It’s been an extremely hard month as someone very close to me has seen four very close friends go home to be with their Lord, all of whom were great individuals who service their King. While all assurance is known and God has as always provided much grace, it still takes a toll on the human spirit. Since Adam’s sin, the Word tells us “it is appointed for man once to die and then judgment” Hebrew 9:7. The judgment is to enter into eternal paradise with Christ the Lord; or the judgment to follow the world that has rejected, God’s Word, follows Satan and will end up in Hell.

Bazille’s compassion, servant hood, and love for his friends and brothers didn’t expand the days God had numbered for him. His good deeds and actions of care wouldn’t allow Him access to Christ’s paradise. Only a true declaration, that the Word of God says in Romans 10:9, “Jesus is Lord” and believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, would he have been saved. What about you?"

POETIC PONTIFICATION:
“It’s not about the things you do for others
Or how you measure against your brothers
It’s not about feeling this way or that way
Or thinking you control everything each day
It’s knowing and believing in Jesus Christ
Doing His will and letting Him live out His life!”

“Artists and painters need people, people who care about them and care about their work, but most important is choosing the judgment that will come. Take good care and choose wisely!!”

Apr.22nd “Messages Not Heard”

“Clock Tower Cottage By Thomas Kinkade”

BLOG BURST:
"A few weeks back I mentioned Thomas Kinkade. His brother came out after his death and said that separation from his wife and four children had taken a toil, loss of sales, and other allegations had led to an increase and dependence on the artist’s alcoholism. Others mentioned he felt like he had sold his talent for commercialism and money. The article finished by saying, “He’ll likely become an example of a talented man making the wrong choices.”

I couldn’t help but think of how often I’ve spoken out on this to especially warn people of this danger, a danger I know only too well. But here it is in the way that God speaks about it and its consequences. Twice in Proverbs, 14:12 and 16:25, we are told, “There is a way which seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” Here’s what “The Berean Call” says about that, “In other words, if a man goes by what he thinks or feels, independently of and in opposition to what God has declared, the consequences for him (or her) will only generate destruction. “If they speak not according to the word, it is because there is no light in them.” Isaiah 8:20

You go contrary to scripture, you show your children how to live wrongly, you pervert what God has said in His Word and you will suffer the consequences.

I don’t write this as a guilt trip! I write this as a wake-up call! I write this because God is not mocked and His Word is truth and if you speak and act as if there is no light in you “Death is separation, the spirit and the soul from the body and moreover the separation from God and the light of His truth.” (The Berean Call)

POETIC PONTIFICATION:
“Too often we don’t see what’s before our eyes
Too often the messages we believe are only lies
We frequently have time to beg and ask forgiveness
We so need a heart cleansed and full of Willingness
It’s not too late; don’t take that road you travel far
Your life, what you think you have, will only be a mar!”

“Painters need to give themselves to their gift and they need the right, positive, supportive people around them, not those who would put selfishness, prominence, and money first. Have a great week!!”
