Have you ever found yourself really just looking around you and stopping to consider how many priceless things you have acquired? Maybe you haven’t acquired them at all? Maybe they’re not all tangible. Maybe you missed out on some things that poured through your hand or things you just threw away. You know feelings and all.
People talk about the big three, health, relationships and money. Everybody has their perfect world, perfect home, perfect family, perfect children, perfect everything. When the truth Is life is a traveling road show, a roller coaster on wheels and often a turbulent storm. We think we’re in control. We’re not. We think we have it all. We don’t. We think it’s only going to get better, at least the positive people do and often it doesn’t.
With all life throws at you and no matter what, where or when, its nice to have priceless pieces of art work, art paintings, around us to help us cope, let us see and keep us mindful of the proper perspective.
We can throw it all away and think the grass is different even if not greener and tell ourselves we are happier, but are we and what is the collateral damage?
Great paintings give you hope, translate you to fond memories and act like stable giants in the midst of storms.

"I had an experience this week in which a prominent person directed his audience to “Stop, Look, and Listen”. He expressed the fact that when they do this one should have some understanding of the meaning of the words together. He pointed out that “Stop” not only meant to come to a halt, but that it meant to get rid of everything that was disabling your ability to concentrate. Anything that was disrupting your pure focus was to be abandoned. He went on to say that looking was not just having your eyes fixed on one specific location or target area. It was an act that is meant to fill your eyes with the completeness of all things going on around you at that very moment, seen and unseen. Not only was one to look side to side and up and down but one was to use every part of his being to view mannerisms, gestures, background movements, comfort and discomfort as well as eye and facial reactions to the things that were said and not said. Not stopping there, he carefully pointed out that if one really listened that they could hear more than words, more than sounds and then silence.
In doing this a persona would be better equipped to make judgments, have a clearer understanding, and perceive beyond normal circumstances.
I of course couldn’t help but think how applicable this was to our whole society and how we should take a few precious moments and engage with beautiful paintings that capture the heart’s emotions. Not only would we live and feel better but we would live in a better place and in more harmony with our fellow human beings as well." POETIC PONTIFICATION:

" I had a comment on a post the other day in which a person tried to make the argument that expressions of paintings were all the same and no painting was better than another. Then I saw this article in which the author said real talent as an artist wasn’t important unless your specific goal was to become famous and then you needed a boat load full. The idea is to learn some basic skills and then have fun. Of course he has a video painting course to sell you.
There’s an interesting depiction in the Bible about Solomon building God’s Temple. King Hiram sent him a man of great skill, trained to work in gold, silver, bronze, and experienced in all kinds of engraving and, get this, able to execute any design given to him. Ask yourself, why didn’t Hiram just send him someone to have fun?
Being an artist painter isn’t an easy task and yet people everywhere have adopted the idea that that person is only having fun. We teach kids as soon as they can mush their hands into paint to experience painting, not directly on the walls though!
In a throwaway relationships, feelings first, it’s all about me society, it’s hard to recognize with all of the distractions, paintings that as Picasso said, “Wash the soul everyday!" POETIC PONTIFICATION:
“When I saw her she opened up my very heart and soul
I was caught, couldn’t breathe and my hands were cold
I want so to engage with her and really know her more
But my mouth was dry and my chin felt as if on the floor
I’d never experienced anything as I felt I was fainting
I looked closely once again; I have to have that painting!”

"Two words that can have multiple meanings and yet can be very connected are “reflection” and “desire”. Our mind spews forth millions of thoughts and ideas and we are affected by outside and internal factors. I listened to a sermon the other day where the speaker said, “You people from the USA you always think it’s going to turn out good. In England we know it’s going to turn out bad!”
I think that these two combinations of words characterize an engaging painting. I used to know a person who said, “Mr. Positive and Mrs. Negative”. Positive people usually have something in them that is beyond themselves. They move positively forward, no matter what. Negative people will ultimately find fault and dwell constantly on themselves, conditions and circumstances that are affecting them and reason that life has turned its back on them.
The wonder of a painting is that it can take you in whatever mindset you are, pull you in to reflection and transpose your thinking into something that impacts you positively. This is seen in the uses of color and light which hospitals, therapy centers and many individuals have recently discovered.

"What a world we live in and what a time to be alive. The changes going on around us are mind boggling. The greed, the self absorption, absentee non discipline parenting, cheapness of life, the backroom deals, the sleep around divorce makes it right world mentality, and wave upon wave of braking down of our foundational beliefs, nothing is sacred. That’s what they would like you to believe. Oh by the way, turn the music up and let’s watch some more stealing and killing on super 3D.
Even in our personal relationship, it’s now maybe I’ll be there and maybe not. Loyalty, vows, true friendship, got your back, it’s more who are you with this week and who are you again? Sure we have friends on the lazy-suzanne of life. It spins whoever comes around for me today is my best friend. All the while, the clock is ticking. If there is 24 hours in each and every day, how come it goes faster with every year that passes? It’s “I just don’t have time for that anyway.”
Once again, I’m here to say, think, stop, consider and re-evaluate what’s going on around you. You may have to change directions, move to some other course, and change the group you hang with or take a closer look at your belief system. Only you know, but you won’t if you don’t stop and reflect and ask for some insight from someone besides your self-serving relations.
Grab a chair, get yourself deeply engaged in a painting and reflect on all that’s going on with you. When you are done you may not recognize yourself." POETIC PONTIFICATION:

"Life is just full of surprises. You know the quote …”Surprise, Surprise”! You remember that almanac of dates that go off in your head “your first kiss’, “graduation”, “your first real job”, “marriage”, “birth”, ”births”, “death of a loved one”, “death of a parent”, and a myriad of all kinds of other things that you would love to remember or you’d love to forget. One thing is for sure, there have been surprises! There were surprises that were great and surprises that devastated you.
In each situation and in all your memories your eyes and your ears have seen and heard messages and some were true and some were not true. Time often tempers and changes those messages to I didn’t say that or that’s not what I said; or that’s not how I saw it.
So often we’re too busy and too influenced to even listen or see the reality of what’s really going on. In most cases we just pass off or excuse the reality in a state of non involvement until like the media, the next big story happens in life.
I hope you can take a serious look at the truth around you and the facts as they unfold. Spend some time with a great painting and let it act as a springboard to bring you to the reality that you otherwise might have missed." POETIC PONTIFICATION:
